Installation
After you purchased the Live Chat Support extension, you will get a zip file, which is the Joomla extension file. You can follow these steps to install the extension on your Joomla website:
- goto your Joomla administrator extension installation page
- select com_livechatsupport.zip extension zip file
- upload and install the Joomla extension
Enable Live Chat Support
After you install this extension successfully, let's go to the Live Chat Support extension page. To make this extension working, we have to enable the Live Chat Support. Follow below instructions to configure the Live Chat Support extension:
- Click the header menu "Components"
- Select the menu "Live Chat Support"
- Find the "Options" button on the right upper side and click
In your configuration page, you only need to set the first option to enable your online live chat support service. The rest of settings are not necessary. But you make all the features functional, you can configure all options.
- Operator Online: this option will enable the online live chat support. If you choose "YES", you customers will be able to chat on your website. If you choose "NO", your customers will see an email contact form.
- Offline Contact Address: this is the email address which your customer offline email will be sent to, if you choose "Operator Online" to be "NO".
- Operator Name: this name will appear in the offline email contact form.
- Default Message: this is the default welcome message which you visitors will see when they reach the live chat support page.
- Sound: you can choose a sound notification when there is a new coming live chat support in your agent page.
- Save settings by click "Save & Close" button on the top.
Add Live Chat Menu for Your Visitors
In this step, we will add a live chat menu for your customers or visitors. When your visitors want to chat with you on your Joomla website, they will click the chat menu and start to chat with you on the Live Chat Client page. These steps are the standard way to add menu in Joomla. Please follow these instructions to add your client chat menu.
- Click the header menu "Menus"
- Select "Menu Manager"
- Click the menu where you want to put your live chat menu for your visitors. In my case, I add the menu in the Main Menu
- In the Main Menu page, click "New" to add a new menu
- In New Menu Item page, type your menu title first. In my case, I name my menu as "Live Chat Support"
- Click blue button "select"
- Click "Live Chat Support" in the popup window
- Choose "Chat Layout Client" to add live chat menu for your visitors
- Click "Save and Close" to save your menu
Add Live Chat Menu for Your Agents
In this step, we will add a live chat menu for you or your agents who will serve your visitor and your customers. The whole process is almost the same as how your add menu for your visitors.
- Click the header menu "Menus"
- Select "Menu Manager"
- Click the menu where you want to put your live chat menu for your agents
- Click the menu page, click "New" to add a new menu
- Type your menu title first, for example, "Live Chat for Agents"
- Click blue button "select"
- Click "Live Chat Support" in the popup window
- Choose "Chat Layout Agent" to add live chat menu for your agents
- Set the "Access" permission, as you don't want to every one be able to access your live chat agent page
- Click "Save and Close" to save your menu
Check Live Chat Page for Visitors
After we successfully add the live chat menu for your visitors, we can check if all configuration works properly. Go your Joomal home page, you will find the menu you just created for your visitors. Click the menu "Live Chat Support", in my website for example, you will see the Live Chat page for your visitors.
Check Live Chat Page for Agents
Now let's check our agents live chat page. As we set the access permission for Live Chat Agent menu, we need to login first. After logged in, we will see the "Live Chat Agent" menu. Click on the menu, you will get the live chat page for agents.
If you set the sound notification, you will get a voice notification when there is a new incoming chat. You can find the new chat on your top left chat list.
